Basket Range Wines Estate Chardonnay 2023
The Estate Chardonnay vines are on a small, 0.25-hectare block behind the winery. The site faces north and east and sits on loam, blue clay, ironstone and sandstone soils. The lion’s share of vines are clone G9V7 with a small portion (15%) of 95. All the fruit was picked by hand and pressed directly to French barrels (50% new) for fermentation and 11 months of maturation with occasional lees stirring. A portion of the wine went through malolactic conversion.
